Memex is a local-first continuity system designed to preserve reasoning continuity, operational state, and evolving cognition structures across interruption boundaries.

We believe continuity infrastructure should minimize unnecessary data collection and preserve user ownership wherever possible.

Local-First Architecture

Memex is designed around a local-first operational model.

Core continuity artifacts generated during system usage are intended to remain on the user’s device unless the user explicitly chooses to share, export, sync, or publish them.

This may include:

  • Session continuity artifacts

  • Runtime observations

  • Local checkpoints

  • Cognitive workspace state

  • Operational traces

  • Internal continuity structures

Memex does not treat personal continuity artifacts as advertising assets.

Information We Collect

We may collect limited information necessary to operate the platform and related services.

This may include:

  • Email addresses submitted through signup, onboarding, waitlist, or subscription forms

  • Account authentication information

  • Billing-related metadata handled through Stripe

  • Basic usage diagnostics and platform analytics

  • Technical logs required for security, reliability, and operational stability

  • Communications submitted through support or onboarding channels

We intentionally aim to minimize centralized collection wherever operationally possible.

Public Continuity Archive

The Trail archive and related public continuity artifacts published on the Memex website are generated from the evolution of the Memex system itself and our own operational research processes.

Public archive materials are not generated from private user continuity sessions unless explicitly submitted or authorized for publication.

Trail functions as a public-facing operational archive documenting system evolution, continuity research, checkpoints, seams, and cognition infrastructure development.

Accounts, Billing, and Trials

Users who create accounts, begin free trials, or subscribe to paid services may provide:

  • Email address

  • Authentication credentials

  • Billing information processed through Stripe

Billing information is processed securely by Stripe and is not stored directly by Memex beyond operational billing references and subscription status metadata.

Free trial or subscription access may include onboarding experiences, continuity tooling, and access to the Memex onboarding assistant, Ding.

Ding Onboarding Assistant

Memex may provide onboarding, support, or operational guidance through the Ding assistant system.

Interactions with Ding may be processed to:

  • Support onboarding flows

  • Improve continuity guidance

  • Resolve operational issues

  • Enhance product usability and support systems

Users should avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information through onboarding or support interfaces unless necessary.

Cookies and Analytics

Memex may use lightweight cookies or analytics technologies to:

  • Maintain login sessions

  • Improve platform reliability

  • Understand aggregate platform usage

  • Measure operational performance

  • Support continuity infrastructure behavior

These technologies are used for operational improvement rather than behavioral advertising.

Third-Party Services

Memex may rely on trusted third-party providers for operational infrastructure, including:

  • Stripe for billing and subscription management

  • Hosting and deployment infrastructure

  • Email delivery services

  • Authentication systems

  • Analytics and monitoring tools

These services receive only the minimum information necessary to perform their operational role.

Data Retention

Operational account information, billing references, and support communications may be retained for continuity, security, legal, or infrastructure purposes.

Local-first continuity artifacts stored on user devices remain under user control unless explicitly synchronized, exported, or submitted.

Security

We use reasonable technical and operational safeguards to protect platform integrity and account information.

However, no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your Choices

You may:

  • Unsubscribe from communications at any time

  • Request deletion of account-related information where applicable

  • Disable cookies through browser settings

  • Request account closure

  • Contact Memex regarding privacy-related concerns
